In cooperation with other universities, AUTH collected undergraduate/MSc/PhD education programs of AI departments from across the world. During data collection and filtering, special attention was paid to AI-focused programs/courses (instead of AI-focused, often well-established, universities). This approach allowed us to draw statistics more neutrally and include (less-known) universities that appear highly interested in offering AI studies in various fields, as well as acquiring a good understanding of AI and keeping in pace with technological advances. Moreover, our AI-oriented approach enabled us to include universities that offer AI-programs/courses in an interdisciplinary fashion (e.g., AI/Law, AI/Ethics or AI/business), revealing the importance/impact of AI for/on various contexts, from society to regulation or economics. Were our analysis solely focused on programs inextricably linked to AI (e.g., programs related to computer science), it would risk being biased, unjustifiably excluding other disciplines (and universities).
